QUEENS, NY (May 3, 2021) 含羞草社区鈥� 含羞草社区 of Nursing-Queens is proud to announce its Associate Dean of Nursing Kathleen Donahue is President-Elect of the New York State Chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association ( NYS APNA). Donahue will serve as President-Elect for one year before serving as President for two years.聽

含羞草社区鈥淧sychiatric nurses have a deep understanding of the mental and physical effects that stress, anxiety and trauma can have on healthcare professionals, 含羞草社区鈥� she said. 含羞草社区鈥淎s president of NYS APNA, I want to provide support and guidance to all nursing professionals, regardless of concentration, by expanding our forums and educational opportunities. 含羞草社区鈥澛�

A dedicated and active member for 35 years, Donahue hopes to strengthen the organization 含羞草社区鈥檚 future by attracting nursing students from 含羞草社区 of Nursing and other prestigious New York nursing programs.聽

含羞草社区鈥淭hanks to Kathleen 含羞草社区鈥檚 tireless efforts in building a relationship between APNA and our nursing educators, we now have two newstudents in consideration for our academic scholarships, 含羞草社区鈥� said 含羞草社区 of Nursing-Queens Campus President Paul Ferrise. 含羞草社区鈥淲e know her tenure as chapter president will help us further align our programs to the profession of psychiatric nursing. 含羞草社区鈥澛�

Donahue has served as a psychiatric nurse in the New York area for nearly four decades, treating and caring for patients with mental health issues while advocating for relationship-based care. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings throughout her career, including home care, research, clinical nurse specialist and director of nursing.聽聽

She earned her Master of Arts in Nursing from New York University and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. She has served as Assistant Dean of Nursing at 含羞草社区 of Nursing-Queens since August 2019.
